Liquid Facelift or Non-Surgical Facelift
Liquid Facelift
It’s no secret the natural aging process is unforgiving and inevitable for everyone. The skin starts to lose its elasticity, which can result in wrinkles, fine lines, lost volume, lost facial contour, and sagginess. There are plenty of options available for facial rejuvenation, starting with a surgical facelift. But what about those who don’t have the time nor the inclination to have surgery? A procedure known as the liquid facelift can be a safe, effective, and non-surgical alternative. We are pleased to provide liquid facelifts here at Carolina Age Management Institute (CAMI Med Spa).
We invite you to learn more about how liquid facelifting works, and to find out about your own eligibility for this procedure.
What is a Liquid Facelift?
To understand the liquid facelift, it may help to compare it with the traditional facelift. A traditional, surgical facelift involves a surgeon making incisions behind your ears or your hairline. Through those incisions, the surgeon will remove excess fat and tissue, pulling your skin tight. A facelift can rejuvenate your face and neck, and is especially useful if you have jowling or a surplus of skin.
A liquid facelift doesn’t achieve quite as much as the surgical facelift achieves, but it can offer some notable results. Liquid facelifts are performed without incisions, anesthesia, or surgery. They can be used to restore volume and facial contour that has been lost with age. Additionally, liquid facelifts can be used to reposition tissue that has started to sag. While liquid facelifting is not as effective as a surgical facelift, the results can still be very positive.
How Does Liquid Facelifting Work?
So if liquid facelifts don’t require incisions or anesthesia, exactly how do they work?
The answer is that liquid facelifts are performed with soft tissue fillers. These fillers are made with hyaluronic acid and other naturally occurring substances, which produce a natural “plumping” effect. As such, these fillers can restore lost volume, smooth over wrinkles and lines, restore facial contour, and more.
Liquid facelifts involve a combination of fillers, carefully chosen and strategically administered to help you achieve your desired aesthetic results. While the treatment does not require anesthesia, topical numbing creams may be used to ensure your comfort. Liquid facelifting is a relatively quick procedure that we’re happy to perform in-office.
What’s the Recovery Like Following a Liquid Facelift?
One of the main reasons why patients shy away from the surgical facelift is because they simply don’t have time for a prolonged recovery. The good news is that, with a liquid facelift, recovery time is pretty minimal. While you may want to stay home to rest and recover for a day or two, the downtime is notably less extensive than with surgery.
As you recover from your liquid facelift, you can expect some minor swelling and bruising. These are very normal side effects and should subside on their own within a few days. If you experience ongoing problems or concerns, you’re always welcome to contact CAMI Med Spa directly.
What’s the Difference Between a Surgical Facelift and a Liquid Facelift?
There are some clear differences between the surgical facelift and the liquid facelift, not just in terms of the procedures themselves but also in terms of the scope of results.
One thing to be aware of is that these procedures can be complementary. A liquid facelift may be performed in order to restore lost volume and to improve the contour of your face, while surgical lifts can effectively reposition and resuspend tissue that has succumbed to time and gravity.
In other words, the two procedures are intended to accomplish two very different goals. So, it’s just not accurate to say that one procedure is superior to the other.
How Long Do the Results Last?
One of the most common questions we hear about liquid facelifting is how long the results will last. The answer: It all depends on the specific types of fillers that are used. Sometimes, results last for several months. In other cases, results may last for one or two years.
During your initial consultation, we’ll be happy to recommend fillers that are more likely to yield long-lasting results. And, we will talk with you about the merits of getting “maintenance” injections to extend your liquid facelift results.
What are the Benefits of a Liquid Facelift?
Liquid facelifting isn’t right for everyone, but if you’re looking to restore lost volume or reposition your facial tissue without the need for surgery, this may be the best option.
Some of the primary benefits of the liquid facelift include:
- There’s no need for incisions, anesthesia, or a prolonged recovery time.
- The procedure takes just a few minutes and can be performed here in our office.
- Many patients see results almost immediately and then over the next few days.
- While the results are temporary, they can often be extended with maintenance injections.
- Liquid facelifting can be a good complement to a surgical facelift procedure.
